Services
Choose a service and the form above will start straight away with the right questions.
Moving a flat or house, whether within the same town or across the country.
Moving across a border, for example between Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain, or further afield.
Moving an office, practice, shop or warehouse, carefully planned to keep downtime as short as possible.
Moving to a smaller flat or a care home, with help sorting belongings and settling in.
Getting single pieces of furniture, appliances or a few boxes safely from one place to another.
Having a flat, house, cellar or loft cleared, including removal and disposal.
Removal companies provide the vehicle, driver and porters, secure furniture and boxes during transport and carry everything into your new home. If you wish, they pack and unpack your belongings, dismantle and reassemble furniture and kitchens, and supply boxes and packing materials.
Many companies also take care of the no parking zone outside the building, store furniture between moving out and moving in, and dispose of anything you do not want to take with you. For offices, practices and international moves they usually plan the process in advance, often with a survey on site or by video.
For a first quote, the most important details are the living space, the floors and lifts at both addresses, and the destination. A list of large furniture and a rough number of boxes make the estimate more accurate.
Also note how far it is from the street to the front door and whether the van can stop directly outside. Mention heavy or fragile items such as a piano, safe or aquarium in your request, as they need special equipment and more porters.
Make sure all quotes are based on the same scope: the same volume, the same additional services and the same number of helpers. Check whether a fixed price is agreed or whether you are charged by the hour, and whether travel, materials and the no parking zone are included.
Ask how your belongings are insured and how to report damage. Reputable companies view larger moves before quoting or ask detailed questions, and confirm the agreed scope in writing.
Questions and answers
The removal company can do this, or you can apply yourself to the relevant office of your town or local council. Allow enough time, as the signs have to be in place well before moving day. This applies at the address you are leaving and, if needed, at the destination as well.
How far a removal company is liable for damage depends on the country and the contract, and liability is often limited. Ask beforehand how your belongings are insured and whether extra insurance is worthwhile for valuable items. It is best to record any damage straight away on arrival and have it confirmed.
With a part load, your belongings travel on a trip that is already planned, together with other customers' goods. This is mainly suitable for smaller amounts and long distances, if you can be a little flexible about the date.
