Electricians lay cables, fit sockets, switches and light fittings and build meter cabinets and distribution boards to current standards. During a renovation they renew the electrics room by room or throughout the house and coordinate with the other trades, so the cables are in place before plastering.
On top of that come EV chargers, connections for heat pumps and solar systems, smart home, door intercoms and network cabling. Many electricians also inspect existing installations and appliances and track down the fault when fuses or the RCD keep tripping.

A good quote lists the materials, the number of sockets, switches and lighting points, the work on the meter cabinet and the inspection of the installation with a test report on completion. Ask whether chasing and plastering are included or whether another trade will make good the walls.
In Germany, electrical installation is a regulated trade, and work on the meter cabinet may only be carried out there by a business registered in a grid operator's installer directory. If in doubt, ask about this and for references from your area.
